Adi and April off to Singapore

RC Karrinyup is absolutely delighted to hear the news that Adi and April, our two 2018 participants in the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF), have been selected in the Australian delegation to attend the National University of Singapore Science Summer Camp in June. Our Rotary club is proud of the partnership we have with Warwick Senior High School and it's great to see the success being achieved.

New Beach Shelter for Trigg Surf Club

RC Karrinyup has once again supported the Trigg Island Surf Lifesaving Club in the dedicated and amazing work they do in the local community down at Trigg Beach. Our club has enjoyed a long-standing and close relationship with the surf club and has recently funded the purchase of a large beach shelter., thus building on previous donations for rescue vehicles and equipment, such as an Oxy Viva unit, over the years and furthering the relationship between the two clubs.

RC Karrinyup Welcomes New Member Murray

At our recent weekly meeting, the Rotary Club of Karrinyup was delighted to induct new member Murray.  Murray was searching for a way in which to serve the community, when he found our website and liked what he saw. After visiting us for some weeks and coming along to our Stirling Farmers Market, Murray expressed a keen desire to join us and, following due process, has now been welcomed into the Rotary family.

Visit to Mooro Country Tours Project

Last year our Community Service Committee worked with the Mooro County Tour Group to provide seating at Lake Gwelup Reserve for cultural tour groups. The project was completed last October. President Trish, together with a group of members and partners recently visited the site to inspect the completed project and found it to be most satisfactory.

Rotary Celebrates 112 Years

Happy Birthday, Rotary! It is a fitting time to reflect on the changes made over the last 112 years. Rotarians the world over have banded together and worked as a team. We have taught young people to read, improved access to clean water and fought disease, toiling both in our own communities and abroad. Certainly, the world is a far, far better place that it would have been without Rotary.

Support for Alzheimer's Research 2017

For a number of years, the McCusker Alzheimer's Research Foundation has been a major beneficiary of Karrinyup Rotary Club Community Service.  Ellaine Hislop, representing the renamed Australian Alzheimer's Research Foundation, recently attended a meeting to receive a donation from the club and give an update on recent developments in research.

Amy Delegate to Canberra

Local girl Amy is the RC Karrinyup nominee for the RAIC Australia 2017 (Rotary Adventure in Citizenship). Amy, a student of St Mary's Anglican Girls School, attended a recent meeting of the Club along with her Politics and Law teacher Alison and mum Anna. We all wish you a wonderful adventure in Canberra Amy!

Support for Foodbank WA 2017

Since the very inception of our club over forty years ago, RC Karrinyup has been a strong supporter of Foodbank WA. This week, Foodbank CEO Greg Hebble attended our meeting, where he was greeted by President Trish and Community Service Committee member David. David presented him with our annual donation of behalf of the club. Greg updated us on recent work at Foodbank WA

Call for Nominations Michael Chin Humanitarian Award for 2016

Nominations are called for the Michael Chin Humanitarian Award for 2016. The Award was created in 2000 to acknowledge an outstanding individual for ongoing humanitarian activities in the community. If a worthy recipient is found the award is presented the following May. Do you know anyone who should be nominated for this award? Nominations close 10th March.

Rotary Meeting - Speaker Sandra Kerbler
