At the RC Karrinyup Changeover Evening, Eddy Giacomel was named the recipient of the prestigious Graham Fosbery President’s Award for 2025-2026 for dedicated 'Service Above Self'. Rotary Youth Service recognises the importance of empowering youth and young adults through leadership development programs. Eddy has embraced his role as Youth Director with his usual zeal and has made a huge contribution to this avenue of service. This award is given each year by the President to a person considered to have contributed significantly to the success of the Club in that year or progressively over time.

Congratulations to the 2025-2026 recipients of Karrinyup Rotary Paul Harris Fellow recognition! Carol O'Lone's hard work was acknowledged with a Paul Harris Fellow pin and framed certificate for taking on a 'can-do' leadership role in practical service to Tranby Hub. John Maker was also recognised with a Paul Harris Fellow pin and framed certificate for his ongoing support and willingness to serve in so many different areas of service to the club. Vic Dennis was recognised for his consistent ongoing quiet support behind the scenes over many years, with another sapphire for his Paul Harris Fellow pin.

MC Murray Jorgensen welcomed distinguished guests, Mr Liam Staltari MLA , Pat Fosbery – wife of our Charter President, the late Graham Fosbery and PP Darren Meakins (Scarborough Rotary) to the Karrinyup Rotary Changeover 2026. Murray acknowledged past and present traditional owners of the land, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation. He also acknowledged and welcomed Past District Governor Phil Ledger OAM and Annette, Past Members of Karrinyup Inner Wheel, Rotarians, family and friends. PDG Phil proposed a toast to Rotary International. Co-President Mick presented his report for the year and announced the special awards for 2025-2025 before inducting John Maker as President of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup for 2026-2027.

In his address to the gathered members, visitors and friends, Co-President Mick spoke of the key goals he and Co-President Peter had set for the year - Ignite Change, Inspire Action and Impact Lives. He touched on part of the impact achieved during the 2025-2026 year across our various areas of service. A major contribution was the complete overhaul and refurbishment of the Earbus, now back at work in the Kimberley. Looking ahead at constantly changing times, he encouraged us to stay relevant, adapt, evolve, and transition along with the world around us. Mick acknowledged and thanked the 2025-2026 Board of Directors and key people, who continue to contribute to the club's atmosphere and professionalism.

Long-serving Rotarian and multiple times Past President Peter Durrant recently announced his retirement from Rotary. Peter decided it was time to step back from his many forms of dedicated service to local and international communities through Rotary projects to concentrate on his family. His contribution to Rotary over more than thirty years has been enormous. The Board agreed that Peter's service be recognised with Honorary Membership of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup, in acknowledgment of his years of dedication and significant impact.

Karrinyup Rotary has received an urgent request for funding from Foodbank WA. Right across Western Australia, more families are reaching breaking point. Parents are skipping meals so their children can eat. Households that were once managing are now being forced to choose between paying the mortgage, filling the car, or putting food on the table. In response to this appeal, Karrinyup Rotary has made an extra donation in addition to our regular annual donation.
