Dress for Success
Trish Lynch introduced Anne Donaldson to talk about “Dress for Success”, a program to support and advise women. It is a program that started in the USA and has spread to 145 cities and 20 countries.
Dress for Success aims for a world where women do not live in poverty. The program assists women navigate the complexities of finding a job, often made more difficult due to personal issues such as domestic violence or lack of self-confidence. Services provided include workshops for personalised styling, self-care and makeup, career development mentoring, assistance with resumes and one-to-one support. The program also provides a clothes recycling service to assist women with finding suitable clothes for job interviews and the workplace.
Last year in Perth, the program assisted 270 clients from many different cultural backgrounds and circumstances. There are many success stories, but also a huge demand and many challenges in running such an operation. A very interesting presentation on a very important subject. Read more.
