Support for 2023 AEN WA Awards for Excellence
The Apprentice Employment Network WA (AEN WA) is a not-for-profit registered charity. It is the peak association representing twenty-two Group Training Organisations operating in Western Australia. AEN WA members are located throughout metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Western Australia and deliver apprenticeships and traineeships within a wide range of industries.
Over several years of dedicated effort in association with the AEN WA, Karrinyup Rotary former Vocational Service Director Kay Durrant instigated support sponsorship of the annual Apprentice Employment Network of WA Awards for Excellence. The club has chosen to support categories that are in line with Rotary’s inclusion and diversity pathways. They are:
- Apprentice of the Year
- Trainee of the Year
- Women in Building and Construction Industry, Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
- School Based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
This year, the Vocational Service team, of Tess Gardner, Carolyn Prunster and Carol O'Lone, made the decision that Karrinyup Rotary would not only award the winners in each category but also other apprentices and trainees, they deemed worthy of recognition. The recipients received vouchers to assist them in providing the necessary tools of their respective trades, as they start their careers.
The Vocational Service team also assisted with assessments providing a member of the judging panel for the AEN WA Awards of Excellence. Club members can look forward to welcoming awardees at a club meeting in January 2024, which is Vocational Service month. We will hear how the sponsorship has made a difference in supporting their careers.
