Induction of PDG President Phil

President Kay Durrant called Past District Governor President-Elect Phil Ledger to the podium and inducted him as the fifty first president of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup. Kay informed us that this will be the fourth time Phil has served as President and she had regarded upon him as her mentor. She then handed over the President's Chain of Office and wished him an amazing year. President Phil then addressed members and guests.

He extended a warm welcome to District Governor Elect Pat Schraven and congratulated Kay Durrant for her splendid year of service saying she ran our club with great aplomb. Phil mentioned that Kay's service was not only to our club, but to Rotary at large and listed a few of her activities:

  • The WA Rotary Family and Domestic Violence chair, Kay coordinated a walk to increase awareness of the growing concern in this area. This was aligned to all of Rotary Zone 8.
  • A key player in the District “My Home” homeless Housing project to home those that are victims of the economic times which achieved housing 18 women.
  • Most recently, at Rotary District Level, selected to the position of Rotary Community Leader under the Zone 8 Regionalisation Pilot program.

Phil then announced the Board of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup for 2024-2025:

  • Treasurer - Paul Callery (absent)

  • Environment - Dawn Palm
  • International - Sandra McGuire
  • Membership - Mick Rogers
  • Youth - Eddy Giacomel
