Support for 2024 AEN WA Awards for Excellence
The Apprentice Employment Network WA (AEN WA) is a not-for-profit registered charity. It is the peak association representing twenty-two Group Training Organisations operating in Western Australia. AEN WA members are located throughout metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Western Australia and deliver apprenticeships and traineeships within a wide range of industries.
Over several years of dedicated effort in association with the AEN WA, Karrinyup Rotary Vocational Service Director Kay Durrant instigated support sponsorship of the annual Apprentice Employment Network of WA Awards for Excellence. The club has chosen to support categories in line with Rotary’s inclusion and diversity pathways. They are:
- Apprentice of the Year
- Trainee of the Year
- Women in Building and Construction Industry, Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
- School Based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Apprentice or Trainee of the Year
This year, the Vocational Service team, of Carol O'Lone, Sue Eccles and Carolyn Prunster decided that Karrinyup Rotary would support additional apprentices and trainees, deemed worthy of recognition. The recipients received vouchers to assist them in providing the necessary tools of their respective trades, as they start their careers.
The Vocational Service team also assisted with assessments providing a member of the judging panel for the AEN WA Awards of Excellence. Club members can look forward to welcoming recipients of Karrinyup Rotary recognition at a club meeting in Vocational Service month - January 2025. We will hear how the sponsorship has made a difference in supporting their careers.
