2025 Michael Chin Humanitarian Award

Dr. Michael Chin, a long serving General Practitioner in the Karrinyup area, was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup serving the Club in various roles and was the first member of our Club to be named a Paul Harris Fellow. He passed away in 1998. The Michael Chin Humanitarian Award was created in 2000, in his name, to honour outstanding individuals, who serve the community and those in need, for their humanitarian and volunteer activities. Recipients are those whose daily dedication epitomises the highest standard of quality and personal commitment.

RC Karrinyup is pleased to announce the 2025 recipient of the Dr Michael Chin Humanitarian Award is Joan Petroboni. Community Service Director Jane Wake related the history of the award, now in its twenty fifth year.

Joan has a long history spanning more than forty years of service to the local community with Star Swamp Bushland, Friends of Star Swamp Bushland Reserve and Mt Flora Museum, as well as volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

Well known in the community, Joan has built a rapport with many Meals on Wheels recipients and provided social contact for people who would otherwise be isolated.

The Rotary Club of Karrinyup is delighted to recognise Joan as a most worthy recipient of the 2025 Michael Chin Humanitarian Award. The club has also recognised Joan with a Paul Harris Fellow.
