2026 Michael Chin Humanitarian Award
Dr. Michael Chin, a long serving General Practitioner in the Karrinyup area, was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup serving the Club in various roles and was the first member of our Club to be named a Paul Harris Fellow. He passed away in 1998. The Michael Chin Humanitarian Award was created in 2000, in his name, to honour outstanding individuals, who serve the community and those in need, for their humanitarian and volunteer activities. Recipients are those whose daily dedication epitomises the highest standard of quality and personal commitment.
RC Karrinyup is pleased to announce the 2026 recipient of the Dr Michael Chin Humanitarian Award is Sarah Lamb. Community Service Director Jane Wake related the history of the award, now in its twenty-sixth year.
Sarah, who was nominated by Riding for the Disabled Carine Executive Officer Andrew Findlay, has contributed over 16 years of dedicated service to individuals living with disabilities, developmental challenges and mental health conditions within our community. In 2019, in recognition of her sustained contribution and leadership, she was appointed Riding for the Disabled Carine's head coach.
In her role, she delivers equine-assisted programs to children and adults with a wide range of physical, cognitive and psycho social needs. She also mentors volunteers and supports the development of coaching capability, contributing to a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
Her approach is characterised by compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of others. She builds strong trusting relationships with participants and their families, creating a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to engage, grow and thrive.
She embodies the spirit of the Michael Chin Award through her sustained dedication to community service and her ongoing contribution to the well-being of others.
The Rotary Club of Karrinyup is delighted to recognise Sarah as a most worthy recipient of the 2026 Michael Chin Humanitarian Award. The club has also recognised Sarah with a Paul Harris Fellow.
