Remembrance Day 2022

Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the end of First World War hostilities. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those who died fighting to protect the nation.

This year, our club supported the Rotary Club of Osborne Park, who were joined by the military section of the Veteran & Classic Car Club of WA for a Memorial Service conducted by the RSLWS Osborne Park Sub Branch in the Rotunda at Lake Gwelup Reserve.

The event was attended by David Michael MLA and several Stirling Councillors. Rotary 9455 District Governor Ineke Oliver laid a wreath on behalf of Rotary. Many people acknowledged the wonderful bugler, Len Evans.

Thanks to the Rotarians, who helped with set up, pack up and serving morning tea at the Colin Moore centre and to the WA Vintage Car enthusiasts, who kindly brought their beautiful vintage cars along.

The event drew a good crowd for the first of what it is hoped will become an annual event. See more photos.
