Support for Passages 2022
The Rotary Club of Karrinyup was proud to once again support the Rotary Club of Perth’s Ramelius Resources Passages Race Day held at the beautiful Ascot Racetrack on Saturday 12th March 2022.
Our club has long been a supporter of the Passages Resource Centre and traditionally supports this day with not only a large donation but also with five members, friends and partners attending the event at their own expense.
Passages Resource Centre is a referral service for homeless or street present young people between the ages of 12 and 25. This charity has saved and re-directed many homeless young people into meaningful lives, relationships and occupations over many years.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Perth and the St Vincent de Paul Society, the event was a very successful despite the Level 2 restrictions in place. Funds raised on the day - $48,000, were directed towards the program.
The Karrinyup Rotary team of Russ and Kirsten Stokes, Mick and Charmaine Rogers, Ian and Val McDonagh, Bruce and Judith Duckham, Kay Durrant and Mike Murphy had a wonderful day even though COVID restrictions limited them to remaining seated and watch the races on the screens. The restrictions proved necessary as two COVID positive cases in the crowd were reported the following day.
Ian and Val McDonagh were the big winners on the day with their horse 'Blazing Away' the winner of Race 8.
