Renaming Ceremony Dandjoo Koorliny

Karrinyup Rotary members were proud to attend the renaming ceremony for RDA Carine - Danjoo Koorliny. The Danjoo Koorliny Walking Together Social Impact Project is designed and led by Aboriginal leaders to help us all walk together towards the future. Karrinyup Rotary has supported RDA Carine for eighteen years and was integral in converting their need for an all weather facility into a proposal that could be submitted for approval and funding. The facility, which opened in 2019, is now beautifully decorated by local indigenous artists.

Stirling Farmers Market Celebrates Ten Years

For ten years, the RC Karrinyup has administerd the Stirling Farmers Market. As well as being a reliable source of income for all our many charity projects, this weekly event has established our club as a visual presence in the local community. Market patrons continue to praise the wonderful friendly atmosphere, which prevails each Sunday morning at the market. Club members and helpers on duty each week are responsible for perpetuating this.

The Rotary Foundation Recognition 2021

The Rotary Foundation is one of the world’s leading humanitarian foundations. Its mission is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, support for education and the alleviation of poverty. Each November, Karrinyup Rotary makes a substantial contribution. On behalf of the club, President Peter accepted a Level 1 certificate of recognition from The Rotary Foundation presented by Director of Foundation for Rotary District 9455, Greg Thurston.

2021 Focus on End Polio Now

Rotary is dedicated to the eradication of Polio worldwide. This potentially fatal infectious disease can be prevented through immunization and we are so close to achieving the goal of a polio free world. However, polio remains endemic in two countries – Afghanistan and Pakistan. Until poliovirus transmission is interrupted in these countries, all countries remain at risk of importation of polio, especially vulnerable countries with weak public health and immunization services and travel or trade links to endemic countries. Supporting Cahoots 2021

Community Service Director Mike Murphy introduced the team from Cahoots - Business Development and Philanthropy Manager Kerryn Lambert and Marketing and Fundraising Lead Kaylee Nicholas. Cahoots is a registered NDIS provider, catering to people living with a disability as well as others, who face exceptional challenges, to develop friendships, skills and confidence. It creates inclusive opportunities for those aged five years and over. Cahoots is a recipient of our Community Service funding.

Strengthening Capacity to Serve

Vocational Service: Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) conference 'Bringing Children And Young People Into View' is designed to strengthen policy and practice responses for children and young people experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence. The Rotary Clubs of Karrinyup and North Perth have sponsored Pilbara social worker and coordinator counsellor Fay from the Nintarri Centre to attend.

Items Donated to Hospital

Our Community Service team has assisted in the delivery of beautiful donated hand knitted baby items from the students at Churchlands SHS. A group of students at the school are engaged in community service projects. Among the items donated for our recent drive for winter clothing were lovely knitted beanies and bootees for premature and new born babies. These were delivered to King Edward Memorial Hospital for use by the staff.

Stroke Week Community Service 2021

As part of National Stroke Week 2021 and our service to the local community, RC Karrinyup hosted an information stall and free health checks at the Stirling Farmers Market providing a valuable service to the local community. City of Stirling Councillor Karlo Perkov braved the elements to lead the way with a BP check. Many thanks to RN Peta for volunteering her time on the day.

Gifts for Wheelchairs For Kids

Students at Churchlands SHS are engaged in community services projects. Recently the school donated to our community service team's SOS for items of winter clothing. Among donations received from the students and the school were beautiful knitted teddies and blankets. International Director Sandra delivered these to the delighted volunteers, who organise the toys and blankets to go with each wheelchair donated from RC Scarborough's Wheelchairs For Kids.
