RC Karrinyup Coronavirus Pandemic Plan
With the escalation in the activity around the Coronavirus (COVID19) Pandemic that is affecting the globe, on our doorstep and recent government decisions which will affect our Rotary Club. The Club acknowledges the importance of the welfare of our members.
The Western Australia (WA) Government has announced a State of Emergency along with a formal public health emergency over the Coronavirus Pandemic and confirming that there was still no evidence of community transmission in WA. Please remember to practice good personal hygiene. Further information on the Coronavirus is available from the Department of Health with daily updates at https://healthywa.wa.gov.au/Articles/A_E/Coronavirus
I wish to advise you all that your Board has been in deliberations now for over a week as to how the Rotary Club of Karrinyup will respond in light of the months ahead. Given the rapid pace of our National and State government responses to this pandemic, your Board has recognised that the Club must implement its own actions.
On behalf of the Board, please read the Rotary Club of Karrinyup Coronavirus Pandemic Response Plan. This documents how our Club plans to respond to the COVID19 pandemic. Based upon the information communicated by our governments, we are already within the Targeted action response stage (page 8) waiting for any community transmission case.
This means that this week’s meeting we will introduce the following initial measures:
- Restrict number of seated people tables to 50% (one spare seat spacer between each).
- Ban hand shaking at meetings/ Club activities or close people interaction.
- Option to join the meeting online (www.zoom.us) using your computer at home (trial).
Should you feel that you do not wish to attend this week’s meeting, please feel free to join us online using the invitation information below – dont forget to let Murray Jorgensen know.

Stirling Farmers Market
The Club is also considering implications for the Stirling Farmers Market and implementing immediate changes this week such as:
- No buskers for the foreseeable future as are not putting out the tables and chairs.
- No raffle to minimise the handling of money.
- No community stalls for the foreseeable future as people tend to congregate at that stall.
- No Role 2 raffle seller will be required for as long as the raffle is suspended.
- Slight reduction of Role 5 helpers as no tables and chairs will be put out.
This situation for the markets will continue to be monitored closely and guided by updates from the WA Government.
Should you feel that you have concerns over the above plans for the market and your associated roster, please contact Heather Leaney.
Support Each Other
Please stay tuned for more information and stay safe during these unprecedented times. We appear to be moving into a period of uncertainty however we can all navigate through this effectively by continuing to support each other and stay connected during this time.
