2020 Nurse of the Year
The Rotary Club of Karrinyup Nurse of the Year Award was created in 1990 to honour outstanding nurses working at the Osborne Park Hospital. This annual perpetual Award recognises a nurse (or midwife), whose daily dedication and care epitomises the highest standard of quality and personal commitment. Osborne Park Hospital has a number of wards catering for surgical, rehabilitation, midwifery and aged care and there are approximately 270 nurses and midwives working at the hospital. Nominations for the Award may be made by nurses, patients, doctors and hospital management staff.
This Award, which is displayed proudly on the wall at Osborne Park Hospital, is highly regarded by the staff and promoted extensively by the Hospital.
The 2020 Winner of the Nurse of the Year Award is Lisa Summers, a registered Nurse and Midwife, who has worked for OPH since 2004 and for ten years at the Role of Infection Control – Clinical Specialist. Lisa demonstrates a strong commitment to nursing and midwifery.
Lisa was nominated by Marie Slater, who says, 'As a senior Registered Nurse, Lisa provides leadership to nurses and midwives and supports the nursing hospital executive to achieve the strategic directions of the hospital. She excels in her role and is seen as a high achiever and role model for staff to follow. She has a strong track record in innovation and achievement in delivering improved Patient services and outcomes.
At present Lisa is our key staff connection to information and best practice relating to COVID 19 Pandemic. She educated herself and is aware of all novices in relation to practices of managing COVID 19 in the hospital. We would be lost at OPH without her expertise and her interactive ways of communicating clearly to staff of every disclosure in this hospital. She is positive, calm and patient and is a key member of the senior nursing team at OPH.'
The RC Karrinyup offers our sincere congratulations to our 2020 Osborne Park Hospital Nurse of the Year – Lisa Summers.
