Camp Quality Update 2021
Community Service Director Mike Murphy introduced the team from Camp Quality - Belinda, Andrea, Haydon and Maddie. Family program team leader Maddie explained how our support for kids affected by cancer in WA is working.
She explained how Camp Quality services and programs are made specifically to help children 0 - 13, who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad. These kids have had their childhood stolen and Camp Quality aims to provide some quality of life for them, hence the name.
Talented puppeteers, Andrea and Haydon demonstrated to members the same powerful presentation they give to the children, as they travel around the State. By creating positive memories, Camp Quality helps change the cancer story for kids and their families. All services are provided free of charge to the families. The programs and services support kids and their families:
- In hospital – through our Family Program Coordinators, who visit children diagnosed with cancer in hospitals and play an active role in introducing families to Camp Quality services and programs
- Online – through two apps: our award-winning app “A Kids Guide To Cancer” and “The New Normal Navigator”
- At school – through our Primary School Program with puppets Kylie and Dean.
- Away from it all – at Family Camps, Kids Camps, Retreats, Family Fun Days and Family Fun Experience.
Following the meeting the club received a letter of thanks from Fund raising coordinator Belinda.
