Support for Multiple Sclerosis WA 2019

Our club has supported the Multiple Sclerosis Society of WA over many years. This week, Community Service Director Mike welcomed Sue Shapland, General Manager, Strategic Supports and Residential Options and Nicki Washington, General Manager Member and Client Services.

Sue told us that it has been a busy 12 months as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) continues to roll out in WA.

There has been record funding for research and MS with $3.5 million from the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC).  There have also been some highly successful events and Lotteries.

The Butler Accommodation with apartment style living has come to fruition.

There has been a MSWA Footprint Expansion with the Belmont Corporate Office, the Busselton Service Centre and proposed builds at Albany - ten high support accommodation units and services centre and Shenton Park - ten high support accommodation units.

The RC Karrinyup donation from last year was put towards a hoist with scales for weighing immobile clients, which cost $5,300.  There is a plaque acknowledging the generosity of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup.

Sue thanked us once again for our generous ongoing support saying that the donation has been well spent.
