Stroke Week Community Service 2021
The week from 1- 8 August was designated as National Stroke Week. As 80% of strokes can be prevented being aware saves lives.
The Stroke Foundation is aiming to ensure that every Australian household has someone, who knows the signs of stroke and what to do and there will be huge media coverage to ensure to word reaches far and wide.
Rotary supports this initiative in spreading the word and, as part of our service to the local Community, the RC Karrinyup hosted an information stall at the Stirling Farmers Market on Sunday 8th August along free health checks offered as a service to the community.
Many customers stopped by to ask questions and pick up brochures on how to reduce their stroke risk. Of the customers who volunteered for health assessments and blood pressure checks, four were found to be in a high risk category and a further five at moderate risk. These were advised to visit their GP ASAP.
If you are part of a social group and would like a Strokesafe Ambassador to speak to your group you can request a speaker from the Stroke Foundation.
Ensure you, your family and friends are StrokeSafe. The life you save could be your own!
