Foodbank WA Celebrates 30 Years
President Phil Ledger and Treasurer Paul Callery attended the 30th anniversary of Foodbank WA, along with Pat Fosbery, widow of Karrinyup Rotary charter president Graham Fosbery.
The Rotary Club of Karrinyup has had a long association with Foodbank WA< having been involved since its inception in the early 1990’s. Our Charter President, Graham Fosbery, served as a Director during those early years.
Foodbank WA now has a number of regional centres as well as Perth Airport, they are Peel, Bunbury, Albany, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and also mobile Foodbank.
There was a wonderful welcome to country and the shop floor was transformed into an event space with shelving moved and re-arranged.
200 guests, including a large number of politicians, were in attendance and were served drinks and canapes by the Foodbank WA staff.
The keynote speech was delivered by Kate O'Hara the CEO of Foodbank with Sabine Winton MLA, Minister for Early Childhood Education; Child Protection; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Community Services also making a presentation.
The MC for the evening was Kerri Burriman, who is the chair of the board for the MFAA the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia, the main professional body for finance brokers in Australia..
The team was delighted to meet Kevin, who was commissioned to do the amazing commemorative artwork, which was unveiled to mark the occasion. There was also a commemorative shopping bag for everyone to take home.
