Karrinyup Rotary Welcomes Feli

Karrinyup Rotary's 2025-2026 Rotary Youth Exchange inbound student, Feli, was welcomed by a contingent of club members, when he arrived at Perth Airport after a very long flight from Buenos Aires in his home country of Argentina.

He was given another warm welcome at his first Club meeting and presented with a 'welcome pack'. This has been a tradition with Karrinyup Rotary, aiming to introduce students to things that are symbolic of Australia – and Perth – in a humorous way.

First out of the welcome pack were a Rotary Club of Karrinyup cap and polo shirt, followed by an Australian flag, and a West Coast Eagles footy jumper. This last item was especially significant for Feli, since he had already enjoyed the experience of watching his first AFL game at Optus Stadium. In this match, the West Coast Eagles fell just short of winning the match in a nail-biting fourth quarter. The remaining items all comprised some kind of food – a box of Shapes crackers, a jar of Vegemite, a bag of Kenny Koala chocolates, a bag of Freddo Frog chocolates, a tin of Milo and – last but not least – a packet of Tim Tams!

Feli appreciated the humour of the occasion and is looking forward to wearing/sampling/eating the various items in the welcome pack or 'Aussie survival kit'. See more photos on Facebook.
