2025-2026 Graham Fosbery President's Award
In 2001, the Rotary Club of Geraldton launched the production of 645 Limited Edition solid Silver Gull sculptures in aid of the Memorial to HMAS Sydney. RC Karrinyup purchased one of these in support of the Geraldton club's project. The Presidential Award was created in 2003 to recognise outstanding contributions by individuals or groups, who display unselfish and dedicated work, as recognised by the President of the Rotary Club of Karrinyup, over and above that which would normally be expected.
Following the death in 2007 of our Charter President, Graham Fosbery, the Board decreed that the Silver Gull Award be renamed the Graham Fosbery President’s Award in his honour. The Board felt that the work Graham did for others epitomised the finest example of the Rotary motto 'Service above Self'. In recent years, it has been presented by a member of the Fosbery family.
Eddy Giacomel joined the Rotary Club of Karrinyup in 2018. With his background in Electrical Engineering and knowledge in this area he has become the club’s ‘go-to’ person for support in this area. From the outset, Eddy has been keen to volunteer and is among the first to put his hand up whenever there is a call. His enthusiasm for selling raffle tickets at the Stirling Farmers Market has seen a huge increase in the raffle profits. He was also the person responsible for setting up the SFM coffee cup tubes to stop the rubbish bins from overflowing.
He is happy to be involved in all activities across any sector and continues to contribute and make an impact at our Club. However, it has been in his role of Youth Service Director where he has really excelled. Karrinyup Rotary has always been very strong in Youth Service and Eddy embraced this challenge of this leadership role with his usual intense enthusiasm. He has made a huge contribution to youth service, not only at Karrinyup Rotary but also across Rotary Western Australia. His dedication and hard work are commended.
